The Enterprise's engineer has featured in no small number of critical smashes since he made the serious step-up from television to film, with Edgar Wright's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy and a hidden cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens ensuring several acclaimed entries on his resume.

But his gradually growing role in the Tom Cruise-fronted action franchise includes three superb movies to date - and while Ghost Protocol and Fallout remain particular favourites with punters, it's the particularly glossy escapism of Rogue Nation that stands out from the crowd as something of a quasi-buddy adventure, playing off Pegg's chemistry with Ethan Hunt himself.

It's a giddy treat - and with his character Benji Dunn back for what may by the climactic two-parter of its seventh and eighth entries, it's more than worth another visit.
