15 Great Sci-Fi Movies (Nobody Ever Talks About)

David Bowie The Man Who Fell To Earth
TriStar Pictures

Coming in hot from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director/ Poltergeist sort-of-director (a story for another day) Tobe Hooper, this sci-fi horror may have been compromised throughout its tortured production process, but as flawed as the finished product admittedly is, it’s still earned its place on this list thanks to two words:

Space Vampires (Take that, Future Vampires of Daybreakers!).

That’s right. Some premises are simple enough to require no further explanation. This 1985 effort, which follows a triumvirate of humans awoken from hypersleep who, upon their arrival on earth, transpire to be something stranger than anticipated, is mandatory viewing for any film fans who love to see creators combine the two most beloved nerdy genres to gory, trippy effect.
