15 Greatest Ever Guilty Pleasure Action Movies

7. Desperado

This is the closest movie to a classic western on the list. Antonio Banderas is the nameless wanderer with a guitar case full of guns. It is a sequel to the original El Mariachi but you do not need any context to understand this film. It€™s a revenge tale. This is before Banderas was Zorro and before he was ever Puss In Boots. In Desperado, he€™s a hero of urban legend proportions and plays this part like the hunk on the cover of a romance novel. I'm surprised he doesn't look right into the camera and wink at the audience. I don€™t think Salma Hayek has ever been better than her role in this movie as the dangerous and beautiful Carolina. The only under-used character might be Danny Trejo as the knife wielding Navajas. I would have liked to see more of him. This was only Robert Rodriguez€™s second film but it shows why he became such a popular talent. The shootouts in Desperado are choreographed like dance sequences with Antonio firing like he is actually throwing the bullets at the bad guys. While the bullets fired at Banderas look as if they actively don€™t want to hit him. Watch this movie for the shootouts and crazy gun play. Best line: "It's easier to pull the trigger than play guitar. Easier to destroy than create." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EolXwy6P25g
