15 Greatest Fictional Bands Of All Time

6. The Beets (from Doug)

Rock Star Mark Wahlberg
Nickelodeon

If you weren't growing up during Nickelodeon's golden years -- or were more of a Cartoon Network kinda kid -- you missed out on some quality animated storytelling on the show Doug. You also missed one of the finest musical parodies ever captured in cartoon form.

Though their name was a riff on The Beatles -- even stylizing the band logo in a similar manner while somehow avoiding copyright laws -- their music was heavily influenced by new wave bands like the Eurhythmics. Then again, the guitarist was clearly modeled on The Ramones. Really, there weren't many famous bands The Beets didn't lampoon in one form or another.

Best Song: "Killer Tofu"

Synthed up and jangling to the max, "Killer Tofu" emulates the vocals of The Pixies, the rhythms of The Talking Heads, and the riffs of The B-52s all that once. Name another fictional band -- live-action or otherwise -- that accomplishes that and I'll mail you a chicken dinner.
