15 Greatest Star Wars Fan Films Of All Time

14. Turncoat

In 2017, Matthew Boerger wrote, directed and starred in the Star Wars fan film Turncoat, about a group of Jedi tasked with hunting down a traitor.

In terms of acting, this fan film is probably the weakest, but it more than makes up for it with the unique and original choices it made. Within Turncoat, we get to see a yellow lightsaber, a pike lightsaber and a delightful twist that comes out of nowhere. In addition, the music used in this film is entirely original and captures the dramatic undertones of the beautifully choreographed lightsaber battles.

With almost 800,000 views on YouTube, the comment section for Turncoat has nothing but praise for the ferociousness of the fights and the character Quintus Ordrin, an old blind Jedi whose line delivery and Obi-Wan-like sass stole the show.

This film has all the classics you'd expect from a Star Wars fan film with the use of holograms, force chokes, and fantastic lightsaber battles, but offers a unique story about the hubris and arrogance of the Jedi order.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
