15 Horror Movies You Can't Miss In 2017

4. A Cure For Wellness

It’s hard to believe that it was fifteen years ago since The Ring slipped into cinemas, scared us silly , and became the highest grossing horror movie of all time. It’s even harder to believe that its director, Gore Verbinski, hasn’t touched the genre since, preferring to take the helm of the POTC trilogy and The Lone Ranger. Seemingly given a stay of release by Disney, Verbinski is back doing what he does very well, with A Cure For Wellness.

Based on a story jointly devised by Verbinski, the plot sees Dane DeHaan’s young exec heading out to remote Switzerland to escort his company’s apparently deranged CEO – Jason Isaacs relishing the mad scientist role - from the premises. When he gets there, he is soon swept up in whatever sinister treatments are taking place in this so-called wellness centre. The footage that’s been released shows plenty without giving up much, assaulting the senses with scenes of bizarre experiments, hints that the tests are steeped in a spooky history, an abundance of slithering, black goo worms and the scariest bath scene since A Nightmare On Elm Street. Unless Verbisnki has Tonto ride in and say something dull, this is going to be a sweaty thrill ride that will get audiences talking.

Being released in February, this one looks like just the remedy to kickstart a year of great fright flicks.
