11. Cage Dive

The found footage sub genre continues to plumb new depths and, with the invention of GoPros and drones, the tools to scare have expanded from that of just a camera on a rail. Cage Dive is very much a film of the new ilk, which follows a group of wannabe film makers as they hit the coast of Oz to capture a showreel of shark shenanigans. This soon turns to a nightmare assignment when a freak wave tips the boat right at the time when (you've guessed it) they are in an underwater cage.

Their footage is later discovered and, as exhibited in a well-received trailer, it's full of jumps, fleeting glimpses, frenzied attacks and in what is bound to be the film's key scare piece, an underwater night vision moment.

It looks to be an effective scene in a creature feature that is guaranteed to make The Shallows look like a paddle in a rock pool.
