The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has spawned an unbelievable six sequels - unbelievable for the wrong reasons. While each has included plenty of Texan mayhem and given the likes of Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey a platform to yelp in early roles, the films have been dire cash ins. However, some promise was shown in 2013's Texas Chainsaw 3D, which gave Leatherface a chance to take centre stage. It was good dumb fun.

Leatherface the movie looks to recapture this semi success, going back to the roots of everyone's favourite lofty maniac, catching him at a time when he was a young soon-to-be chainsaw wielder. With a plot that sees a bunch of troubled patients escaping a mental asylum - one of which is Leatherface- and a return to the directors chair for helmers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, who made arguably the greatest horror movie of the century so far with Inside, this is the most welcome prequel of 2017.
