15 Incredibly Late Sequels That Took Decades To Arrive

9. Rambo - 20 Years

The Previous Film: Rambo III (1988) A typically eighties series unashamedly built on extreme action and thin plot, Rambo was hyper-violent fun and little more. First Blood certainly stands as one of the better over-the-top actions flicks from the time, but the two sequels, the preposterously named Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III, were more extreme and even lighter on story, which only served to make this a series for young boys and few others. The Late Sequel: Rambo (2008) As with Rocky Balboa boasting a numberless title announcing distance from the disappointing direction the series had taken, Rambo saw Stallone bridge the gap between the well-intentioned boxing sequel and the totally misguided Expendables. We could summarise the plot, but really it's just better to say the film came with the highest age-rating possible; the blood really flows. Was It Worth The Wait? None of the series are really that good, so it's quite easy to shrug off the more of the same sequel. It didn't really connect with audiences; those old enough to see the originals in cinemas have probably grown out of all the gore, while the ideal audience didn't gravitate towards a lead three times their age.
