15 Incredibly Late Sequels That Took Decades To Arrive

8. The Rage: Carrie 2 - 23 Years

The Previous Film: Carrie (1976) It may have a trailer so full of spoilers it makes modern fare look restrained, but that doesn't take away from Carrie's legacy. The first of many Stephen King adaptations, the story of a telekinetic teenager tormented to the point of fiery destruction is an absolute masterclass in horror. There's been two other high-profile versions (a 2002 TV movie and 2013's Chloƫ Grace Moretz retread), but neither could escape the shadow of Brian De Palma's film. The Late Sequel: The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999) The thinnest case of a sequel on this list, Carrie 2 (which had working titles The Curse and Say You're Sorry) is the story of Carrie's half-sister Rachel who goes through a very similar experience; unpopular at school she finds herself the target of a cruel prank and goes crazy with her powers. The only thing stopping it being a rip-off is the presence of Sue Snell, the survivor from the first film. Was It Worth The Wait? Carrie's another film that really doesn't need a sequel and the one it got is so derivative it offers nothing for fans of the original. The fact it is so lazily subtitled should give you all the information you need.
