15 Interesting Facts About The Daniel Craig Bond Films

6. The Dark Knight Was A Huge Influence On Skyfall

Considering it was one of the most critically lauded and commercially successful films on the decade, it€™s not surprising that The Dark Knight would be a massive influence on all future blockbuster films. One of the films its impact is most readily apparent in is Skyfall.

This inspiration is not so much referring to the plot similarities between the manic supervillains or the emotionally-wounded hero pursuing them. Instead, it pertains to the deliberate tonal similarities between the films. Sam Mendes directly cited The Dark Knight as an inspiration for how they made this Bond film darker, more realistic, and modern.

With Christopher Nolan still thought of as a viable choice to direct a Bond movie in the future, Skyfall could be a good template of what to expect, and showed how his type of storytelling can work for many characters.

At the very least, this explains why Skyfall ends with Bond surveying his city from a rooftop exactly like Batman does.
