15 Kids Movie Moments That Felt More Like Horror Films

3. The Disgruntled Air Conditioner - The Brave Little Toaster (1987)

Regarded as the original Toy Story to many, The Brave Little Toaster is set in a world where household appliances and other electronics comes to life, pretending to be lifeless in the presence of humans. The story focuses on five appliances - a toaster, a lamp, an electric blanket, a radio and a vacuum cleaner - who go on a quest to search for their original owner. The film is rife with weighty themes on materialism, age, abandonment and even the acceptance of death. The movie is placed against a backdrop of kid-friendly humour, visuals and songs, but the beating heart regards the sometimes difficult process of maturation; the things we cling to and the things we leave behind. One of the oddest moments of the film is a thoroughly bizarre scene in which the wall-mounted air-conditioning unit works himself up into a rage, ranting against his station in life (unhappily stuck to the wall, he bemoans the lack of mobility that makes him different) until he overheats and burns to death. The reaction of the other appliances? €œWell, he was a jerk anyway.€ Charming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLJvDadSfns
