15 Likely Movie Sequels That Hopefully Will Never Happen

6. Ted 3

Previous Movies: Seth MacFarlane's hilarious comedy about a man (Mark Wahlberg) and his profane teddy bear buddy (MacFarlane) was a solid critical hit and grossed a ludicrous $549 million, making it the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Unsurprisingly, Ted 2 was quickly commissioned by Universal, due for release next June, albeit with Mila Kunis' love interest character being promptly ditched (despite getting married to Wahlberg's character at the end of the first movie) in favour of Amanda Seyfried. The critical returns are almost sure to be diminished, but the box office gross will still be huge. The Sequel: Even if Ted 2 makes just half of what the original did (it won't), it will still be a massive commercial success, and given how much MacFarlane loves to run jokes into the ground, there's no doubt he'll end up signing on for a third Ted film, bringing this unexpected commercial juggernaut to its likely conclusion. Why It Should Never Happen: In fairness, one can't write off Ted 2 yet as little is known about it and, of course, nobody has even seen it. Still, it reeks of needless sequel syndrome, and if it scores anywhere north of $300 million worldwide on an estimated budget of $70 million (which it will), there's almost certainly going to be a sequel. Still, just because you can, Seth, should you? Wasn't one movie about a man-child and his comically crude teddy bear hilarious enough?
