15 Likely Movie Sequels That Hopefully Will Never Happen

5. Paranormal Activity 6

Previous Movies: The Paranormal Activity franchise kicked off after the original 2007 independent film was acquired by Paramount Pictures, given a new ending and released in 2009. On a mere $15,000, the film made $193 million, leading to three sequels of variant quality, each of which nevertheless grossed upwards of $140 million on $5 million budgets. A spin-off movie, The Marked Ones, was also released in early 2014, making $90 million against the same budget, bringing the series' life-time box office gross to $811 million against a combined $18 million budget. Not bad, right? A fifth core movie is due for release next March, though has dropped the numeric titling in favour of the rather generic, straight-to-video-bait title, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. The Sequel: Even though the March release date risks losing a lot of their usual Halloween audience, The Ghost Dimension won't have to work too hard to financially justify another sequel. Series writer Christopher B. Landon has claimed that an end game is in the works, but it will require a few more movies to get there, so it's pretty safe to say that a sixth core PA movie will follow The Ghost Dimension. Why It Should Never Happen: Because aside from the original movie and The Marked Ones, none of these movies are actually any good. If the series continues along this current bent, it's simply going to turn up worse reviews and lower box office grosses until Paramount finally decides to put the cash cow out to pasture, probably without a logical or satisfying conclusion.
