15 Likely Movie Sequels That Hopefully Will Never Happen

3. Frozen 2

Previous Movie: Frozen fever has been in full effect for the past year, with the movie making a crazy $1.27 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all time, the fifth highest-grossing film of all time, and the highest-grossing film of 2013. It also won Oscars for Best Animated Film and Best Original Song, the latter being for the insanely catchy "Let It Go". So pervasive is the film's popularity that the movie's director even apologised to parents who have no doubt been driven to their wits' end by the song. The Sequel: No film makes that much money (not to mention ludicrous merchandising revenue) without turning a few heads, and though Disney CEO Bob Iger assured fans that they wouldn't "mandate a sequel" or "force storytelling", it's almost dead certain that Disney won't be able to resist the allure of making another easy billion. If they're smart, though, they won't rush it out of the gate, but simply wait a few years until the furore around Frozen has died down a little. Overexposure be very harmful to any commodity, as Hollywood has seen time and time again. Why It Should Never Happen: Still, Frozen was a fun movie that doesn't really warrant a sequel. Whatever follows will inevitably be compared, probably unfavourably, to what came before, and frankly, trying to write a song as insanely catchy as Let It Go is simply a thankless task. Sure, the storyline's not precious enough to worry about a sequel "ruining" the original, but it's pretty much going to be a needless if inevitable commercial calculation which will have parents once again running for the hills.
