Perhaps no Oscar win in recent memory has upset the Internet quite as much as Suicide Squad winning a statue for its makeup and hair work.

Many were outraged that the DC Extended Universe now had an Oscar to its name while the vastly superior Marvel Cinematic Universe was still struggling to scoop one up.

And that's not to forget that Suicide Squad is in no way a good movie, and despite a strong marketing campaign, it fell horrendously short of expectations thanks to atrocious editing, a rubbish script and a few wonky performances.

To be totally fair to the film, though, the makeup was probably the best in competition that year, beating out Star Trek: Beyond and A Man Called Ove. Due to how widely loathed the film is, though, the win's always going to be controversial.
