Oscar Win: Best Makeup

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 35%

Makeup legend Rick Baker's work was so brilliant on this movie that it allowed Universal to slap "Academy Award winner!" on the Blu-ray box despite critics largely dismissing the film as a bland, soulless retread.

Despite a solid performance from Benicio del Toro and a stacked cast including Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving, The Wolfman succumbs to unconvincing CGI effects and a weirdly uninvolving narrative.

Baker's makeup is meanwhile absolutely first-rate and he undoubtedly earned the Oscar. It was also Baker's seventh and final win before retiring in 2015.
