6. Doctor Miles Bennett Dyson (Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
He may not be an oddball but he sure as hell is responsible for the eventual near-extinction of humankind during the rising of the machines. The worst part of it all, poor Miles Dyson had no idea that he was going to create something that will eventually become the reason for Judgment Day. Director of Special Projects at Cyberdyne Systems Corporations, Miles uses technology from found pieces of another Terminator in the previous film to develop a neural-net processor. This processor leads to the creation of Skynet, a military A.I. that becomes self-aware, launches nukes all over the world, and sends machines on a worldwide murderous rampage against humans. A modest and caring family man, after learning of the future he was unwittingly creating this cybernetics scientist joins Sarah Connor and company to destroy his lab and all traces of the research so an apocalyptic future could be prevented. Unfortunately, Miles's sacrificed his life to ensure his Cyberdyne labs were destroyed, a sacrifice that would be vain as it only delayed Judgment Day. As a man who quickly understood the horror his science would bring, he deserves a fair spot on this list on basis of the insanity he must have felt when he realized his future was nothing but a legacy of death.
