15 Maddest Scientists In Movie History

9. Doctor Frederick Frankenstein (Young Frankenstein)

Franken Stein It's pronounced "Fronk-en-steen". I said the more famously portrayed Victor Frankenstein would not be included on this list, but I did not say anything about his grandson, Frederick, in Mel Brook's 1974 parody. Portrayed by the amazing Gene Wilder, Frederick is a physician lecturer who is attempting to bury away the legacy of his grandfather's work that has overshadowed his own career. Frederick goes as far as to change the pronunciation of his last name. Serious about his scientific research and adamant about not being compared to his mad grandfather, Frederick is eventually pulled to Victor's castle after it is left to him in a will. Considered one the funniest films of all time, Young Frankenstein shows us the story of how Frederick succumbed to the aspirations and appetite for furthering his research as the grandfather he disowned had done years before. But even after the monster's creation Frederick does not resort to the typical Frankenstein stereotype but continues the story's comedic antics as he showcases the creature's abilities with a song and dance show and transporting some of his intelligence to his creation to help it calm a mob. In exchange, Frederick received some "extending features" his creation was known for by the ladies.
