15 Massive Movie Franchises That Have More Great Entries Than Rubbish Ones

12. The Muppets

Disney

Total Number of Films: 8

Great: The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppet Christmas Carol, The Muppets

Rubbish: Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets From Space, Muppets Most Wanted

Following 2014's mediocre Muppets Most Wanted and a divisive TV reboot, the future of Jim Henson's beloved creations seems uncertain at the moment. A terrible shame, given it's only been five years since 2011's The Muppets successfully put the franchise back at full speed.

After 1979's The Muppet Movie brought the characters to the big screen, the subsequent three theatrical Muppet movies kept up the charm, but the franchise took a significant hit with Henson's untimely death, and soon hit a downward spiral.

It's worth noting that I'm only counting the theatrically released movies, and not the TV movies Kermit's Swamp Years, It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie and Muppets Wizard of Oz - all of which would have dragged the average WAY down.
