15 Memorable Moments From This Year's Oscars

4. Boyhood Only Wins One Oscar

One of the biggest shocks of this year's Oscars was the fact that Richard Linklater's masterpiece Boyhood only won one single Oscar, for Patricia Arquette's supporting performance. Despite being nominated for six Oscars and being tipped as a front-runner for Best Picture and Best Director awards, the movie was pipped to the post by Birdman, while Whiplash stole away the Best Film Editing Oscar, leading to a disappointing showing for the superb coming-of-age drama. Considering the juggernaut-like momentum that the movie started out with on the awards circuit some months ago, it's a pretty shocking fall from grace, and though it does little to diminish the movie's legacy, surely nobody was counting on it getting quite so shafted at the finish line.
