15 Memorable Moments From This Year's Oscars

12. "Everything Is Awesome" Live Performance

One of the most brilliantly bizarre moments from this year's Oscars was the live performance of "Everything Is Awesome" from The Lego Movie. After a brief animated chorus sequence, Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island launched into a spirited rendition of the insanely addictive tune, complete with an army of backing dancers (dressed up as construction workers, cowboys and spacemen) handing out Lego Oscar statuettes to members of the audience. Oprah seemed especially pleased. Will Arnett also made a cameo appearance as Batman, strumming away on an electric guitar and singing the hilarious signature lyrics, "Darkness...no parents". Above all else, it was a welcome dose of fun in a ceremony that often takes itself too seriously, even if it was also a crushing reminder of the movie's egregious snub in the Best Animated Film category.
