The Showdown: The Bride aka Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) hunts down former lover Bill (David Carradine) for massacring her wedding, leaving her for dead and kidnapping her daughter.

The Anti-Climax: Well, after two movies and four hours of waiting, the two have a fantastic conversation in typical Tarantino-esque fashion, but the fight itself? Before an epic swordfight has even had a chance to take place, Bill is struck down with the mythical Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, which will kill him after he takes his next five steps.

The two gas for another moment before Bill takes the five fateful steps, his heart blows out and it's all over. Trust Tarantino of all filmmakers to build up the awesome battle to end all battles...only for it to culminate with a few taps on the chest and a few footsteps. Most couldn't get away with so audacious a goal post-shift, but QT just about manages it.
