15 Most Anti-Climactic Movie Showdowns
10. Scott Vs. Nega Scott - Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
The Showdown: After it seems like Scott (Michael Cera) has saved the day by defeating the final evil ex Gideon (Jason Schwartzman), he's got to face one more combatant: an evil version of himself, Nega Scott, in a "solo round".
The Anti-Climax: As the fight prepares to kick off, Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Knives (Ellen Wong) wait outside for the surely brutal brutal battle to unfold.
In fact, mere moments later, Scott and Nega Scott emerge talking in a jovial tone before going their separate ways. Scott then tells Ramona and Knives that he's a really nice guy, they're going for brunch next week and, funnily enough, they have a lot in common.
As a hilarious subversion of the "final final boss" trope, this was characteristically superb use of the anti-climax by Edgar Wright.
