1. Kim Jong-un's Head Explodes - The Interview
Who Dies?: Kim Jong-un (Randall Park). Method of Death: Exploded by a missile (from a tank controlled by James Franco's Dave Skylark and Seth Rogen's Aaron). Why It's Awesome: Well, it's the only movie death scene on this list that's actually caused an international incident, so there's that. By now, everyone knows that The Interview caused a ton of pre-release controversy, and that's before North Korea even knew for sure that their glorious Supreme Leader actually bit the bullet at the end. Now that the movie is out in the wild, it's no doubt angered them even more. After all, many probably didn't expect to see the movie end with Kim's death, given the potential for a more iconic ending where it turns out he's actually not all that bad. Still, Rogen and co-director Adam Goldberg stuck to their guns, delivering a supremely humiliating end for the dictator in which he is exploded in slow-motion set to Katy Perry's hit pop tune Firework. Even though an earlier version of the scene was much gorier before Sony higher-ups stepped in, it's still outrageously effective and a fine testament to freedom of artistic expression, no matter the target. What's your favourite movie death scene of 2014? Shout it out in the comments!
