15 Most Bad-Ass Teams In Movie History

8. The Expendables

The Fellowship Of The Ring
Lionsgate

The selling point of the Expendables franchise is simple; all of your favorite aging action heroes together on the big screen at last! Despite an average age of over 50, combined filmographies littered with countless awful movies and a body count that easily runs into the thousands, The Expendables have been at the forefront of the 'geriaction' genre, with the three movies grossing almost $800m at the box office.

All three movies have featured the core Expendables of Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews (the baby of the group at a sprightly 46), with appearances from a veritable 'who's who' of action icons including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Chuck Norris and Wesley Snipes, not to mention villainous turns from genre favorites Jean-Claude Van Damme and Mel Gibson. Based on that roll-call alone, its surprise nobody on the set died from a testosterone overdose.

While the third movie suffered from a PG-13 rating and a painfully dull roster of younger recruits, the trilogy nonetheless proved that the bad-ass elder statesmen of the action movie have still got it as they punched, kicked, headbutted, shot and stabbed their way through a sea of interchangeable henchmen.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
