15 Most Critically Adored Horror Movies Of 2018

9. Possum

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 85% (7.2/10)

Fair warning to you here: Possum is certainly not for everyone. It's a subtle slow-burn clearly constrained by its tiny budget, but thanks to Sean Harris' sublime lead performance, it's also one of the year's most memorably unsettling horror films.

Every frame of Possum bleeds its unrelentingly grim, bleak atmosphere, and though the spider-like puppet used extensively in the marketing sure does send chills down the spine, it's Harris' work which truly lends it staying power.

An unapologetically small movie which nevertheless serves up a potent character study and one of the most uniquely unsettling movie "monsters" in quite a while. Arachnophobes might want to sit this one out, though.
