15 Most Critically Adored Horror Movies Of 2018

10. Anna & The Apocalypse

Why Halloween Just Killed Up At The Box OfficeThumb
Orion Pictures

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84% (7.2/10)

If Cargo is a unique stab at a the zombie genre, Scottish Christmas-themed musical zombie flick Anna and the Apocalypse is on a whole other level.

Though that description might sound a little over-eager and self-consciously quirky, rest assured that John McPhail's film mostly earns its enthusiastic comparisons to Shaun of the Dead.

Despite its obviously low budget, the movie is a visually sharp, stylish romp with buckets of grotty gore and some surprisingly well-produced musical numbers. It also gives lead Ella Hunt the floor to deliver a potentially star-making performance should the film become the cult gem it absolutely deserves to.

If you're sick of all the typical holiday tripe being trotted out in cinemas at the moment, this bloody, brainy effort might be just what you're craving.
