King adaptations that hit above 50% are a rarity to say the least and even the dream team of adding John Carpenter to the directing chair didn't stop some critics gunning for his 1983 take on the killer car story.

But the film is an affectionate, spirited take on the original, with lashings of cult appeal and it deserves to be classed as one of the better King reworks.
