15 Most Critically Adored Stephen King Adaptations

8. Dolores Claiborne (1995)

Douglas Hackford may have lost something since he made Ray back in 2004, but he scored a run of critical and commercial successes following on from Dolores Claiborne in 1995.

The film - the second King adaptation starring Kathy Bates - is a far more sympathetic affair then Misery's harsh horror, preferring drama to straight chills to great effect.
