15 Most Disappointing Movies Of 2016

14. Blair Witch

X-Men Apocalypse
Lionsgate

Blair Witch was only revealed over the summer (previously being marketed under the false title The Woods), but touted an excellent marketing campaign that built up quite the terrifying experience indeed.

What a shame it was, then, that the end product was so thoroughly unadventurous, essentially remaking the original 1999 movie for a new generation but with a loose sequel wraparound to keep older fans interested.

Most of the scares are rehashed from the first film, the characters are forgettable, and in actually revealing the Blair Witch to the viewer in the (admittedly quite scary) final 10 minutes, it strips away the series' greatest weapon: the unknown.

Surprisingly, the film opened significantly below box office expectations, so while it was still very profitable, there's no guarantee of another movie.
