15 Most Disappointing Movies Of The 2020s (So Far)

9. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Thor: Love and Thunder
Warner Bros.

If there's one word to sum up The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, that word would be... 'Boring'.

With its lack of scares, painfully routine narrative, entirely forgettable villain and complete lack of innovation, this flick is so goddamn tedious it's really hard to sit through and the whole thing was such a dispiritingly underwhelming experience that'll leave everyone feeling bitterly disappointed.

After all, the first two Conjuring films were legitimately terrific supernatural horror flicks that seemed to give every badly-executed studio horror film (there are a lot of those!) the finger, yet this third film feels exactly like one of those limp offerings we were bombarded with throughout the 2000s and early 2010s.

This hit-or-miss horror franchise has let viewers down before but never as badly as this. It's not the worst in the series - 2018's The Nun still has that unflattering distinction - but it's definitely the most disappointing, as well as the biggest horror let-down of 2021.
