15 Most Disappointing Movies Of The 2020s (So Far)

7. Eternals

Thor: Love and Thunder
Marvel Studios

With its ambitious story, stacked cast and the recent Oscar winner Chloe Zhao in the director's chair, Eternals seemed destined to be one of the MCU's most successful, interesting ventures.

Instead, in a plot twist that would make Shyamalan proud, it became the first MCU film to get a rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Was this deserved? Oh yes.

While Eternals isn't the worst MCU film - Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World are still worse - it is perhaps the one which wasted the most potential.

The interesting thing with Eternals is that, on paper, its story is legitimately really good and there are some compelling ideas but because its poorly written script delivers the story and characters in such a flat, boring and emotionless manner little of this potential ever comes through.

Similarly, most of the actors give fairly subdued performances since they're given so little to work with, and poor Chloe Zhao just wasn't suited to the material at all and doesn't do a terribly good job as director.

As such, Eternals is one hell of a let-down. Still, Marvel Studios are apparently pushing ahead with a sequel because... who knows?
