5. Babylon

After First Man, it was always going to be interesting to see what Damien Chazelle did next, and it seems he's returning to story-telling that he knows. He's already made three movies about the cost of dreams and now he's going back to Tinseltown for Babylon, which is described as a Hollywood period drama that looks set to team him back up with Emma Stone.

Brad Pitt is also rumoured to be in talks, which is just as exciting. The story is said to take place on the verge of the film industry's adoption of sound (so the same period as The Artist) and given Hollywood's fascination with telling its own story, this one's likely to pick up Oscar attention too.

It's not a musical, but if Chazelle can capture some of his La La Land magic - which its always going to be compared to - it'll be wonderful.
