15 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances

1. Jared Leto's Joker (Suicide Squad)

The Joker is arguably one of the most recognisable fictional characters of all time, possibly usurping his adversary, Batman, in terms of popularity. We€™ve seen iconic interpretations of the character in Jack Nicholson€™s €˜Jack Nicholson in face paint€™ and the late Heath Ledger€™s cerebral, chaos engine with a Chelsea smile. He€™s one of those characters that can and will cause a fan base to turn absolutely rabid. Evidently, it takes a man who got hit in the noggin a few too many times by Brad Pitt to willingly follow up Ledger€™s performance. Leto€™s Joker is a wholly new beast. He€™s menacing, monstrous and stylish, painfully self-aware tattoos aside. Ledger€™s Joker was intimidating but Leto is absolutely frightening. I'd rather dance with Nicholson in the pale moonlight then have this Joker chasing after me. It took one photo of Leto in makeup to have people up in arms, ready to boycott the movie, causing anxious Warner Bros. execs to not wipe the sweat off their brows with hundred dollar bills. However, it took a about fifteen seconds of a trailer to raise anticipation for Leto€™s Joker to stratospheric levels. Jared Leto has dived headfirst into his characters and is consistently upping the ante. It's incredible to think he's gone from playing a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club to becoming the most frightening Joker yet, We€™re yet to see a more sociable Joker who adopts his gangster posturing as a true prince of crime. That one shot of Leto laughing amidst a meticulously laid spiral of pistols and knives is easily the coolest image to come out of the Suicide Squad hype train. Expect many, many more when the movie drops. Leto has completely transformed himself once again and it€™s for this reason that The Joker deserves top billing in this list.
