15 Most Hated Comic Book Movie Characters Ever

Ghost Rider might not be one of Marvel’s best known characters, but he is possibly one of its coolest. He’s a motorcycle riding antihero with a flaming skull for a head whose weapon of choice is a hellfire chain, for crying out loud. So how does one go about buggering up a big screen version of Ghost Rider? By casting Nicolas Cage, of course.

Rather than the chain smoking, heavy drinking fella from the comic books, Cage apparently saw fit to remove these more badass elements (so basically the character’s essence) in favour of portraying him with more ‘depth’. In the hands of another actor that might’ve of worked, but with Cage in charge Ghost Rider comes across as more unintentionally funny than a conflicted antihero.

To make matters worse, Cage once again pissed on Ghost Rider’s parade by starring in an even more critically panned sequel a few years later. Mercifully though, following the film’s failure, plans for any future sequels were scrapped and Cage has since said he won’t be playing the character ever again. Here’s hoping he sticks to his word.
