Madeline Madrigal (Ma-Ma, to those who fear her, which is pretty much everyone) is the drug kingpin that rules Peach Trees Block in the 2012 adaptation of 2000ADs Judge Dredd comic book. Peach Trees isnt just a housing project or a dilapidated tower block: its a self-contained city of 200 floors; a slum rising into the sky; a city district in the shape of a skyscraper, home to 75,000 people and an unemployment rate of 96%. When a murder investigation three men, skinned alive and thrown off the building brings veteran lawman Dredd and rookie Judge Anderson to Peach Trees, Ma-Ma has the gargantuan Block sealed from ground level and sends her gang, the cultish Ma-Ma Clan, to find and kill the two Judges before they can find the information shes hiding: that Peach Trees and the Ma-Ma Clan are the source of the Slo-Mo drug thats spreading throughout Mega City One. A one-woman crime spree, Ma-Ma thinks nothing of threatening the lives of every man, woman and child trapped in the building even murdering an entire floor of families with mini-guns mounted to a balcony in an effort to take out the Judges on her turf. Ma-Ma is a scarred, sociopathic working girl turned gang lord, a hands-on kinda boss who killed the pimp that cut her face by biting off his spam banister, murdered every last member of the rival gangs in Peach Trees in her bloody rise to power, and kept her resident tech guy in line by taking out his eyes with her thumbs. At the films climax when Dredd has her cornered on the penthouse, Ma-Ma reveals that shes wired Peach Trees with enough high explosive to take out the whole Block. Shed kill the population of a mid-sized town to save her own skin in fact you get the impression that shed kill them anyway, just to keep her hand in.
