15 Most Obscure Comic Books That Were Turned Into Movies

8. The Surrogates

Surrogates Bruce Willis
Disney

A five-issue series published in 2005 and 2006 by Top Shelf Productions, small company based out of Marietta, Georgia that has since been acquired by IDW Publishing. Featuring artwork drawn by Brett Weldele, The Surrogates was set in the not too distant future.

Its plot is an alarmingly plausible one where most of humanity deploys Surrogates, robot versions of themselves that they can control from their homes so that they never have to venture to the outside world. It would be followed by a prequel, Surrogates: Flesh and Bone, in 2009.

Also in 2009, a movie based on the original series starred Bruce Willis hit theaters. It did not receive an overly warm welcome from critics, but it was a modest box office success.

I like to think I'm a clever person, but apparently I'm not clever enough to come up with a witty biography.
