The Character: Mongol warrior Temujin, who over the course of the movie fights his way to become iconic emperor Genghis Khan. Why He's Offensive: Because the filmmakers made the extremely ill-advised decision to cast the very, very white cowboy John Wayne as the not-at-all white Khan, rather than just find a race-appropriate actor. Seeing Wayne made up to look "more Asian" and kitted out in period clothing is hilariously jarring at best and outright offensive at worst, with Wayne's noticeable Southern drawl only making it all seem that much more embarrassing. Does He Ruin The Movie?: Pretty much. In fairness, the script is terrible and the production's choice to shoot near a U.S. nuclear testing site is believed to have caused over 1/3 of the cast to later suffer with cancer, so at least Wayne's casting isn't the single worst decision that was made.
