Really a no-brainer for this list, A Serbian Film packs virtually every perversion known to man in its running time: baby rape, incest and necrophilia are paraded in front of us in a grim cavalcade of sordidness. Milos, a retired porn star, is running out of money and agrees to take part in an independent porn movie so he can get the money to move his wife, his young son and himself out of Serbia. Milos is subsequently drugged and jerked around by the porn film's producer, who ends up making Milos do some really over the top perverse things. It is hard to make out the point of this movie - is it just an excuse to pack as much sleaze into a film that is possible or does it have a more complicated commentary on modern Serbian politics and culture? Whatever the answer, director Srdjan Spasojevic either really hates his country or is simply a prurient mega-pervert.
My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
