15 Most Ridiculous Movies In Development

9. Transformers: The Last Knight

Transformers The Last Knight
Paramount Pictures

Release Date: June 23, 2017

The Pitch: More Bayformers carnage: you know the drill, but with Anthony Hopkins in a supporting role as a war vet, and a plot centered around both King Arthur and Nazis. Yup.

Why It's Ridiculous: Even for the loose standards of this franchise, the likelihood the movie will feature Nazi Transformers in a flashback sequence (set photos show Nazi insignia draped over a castle) alongside Merlin's magic is quite difficult to reconcile. This is actually a thing that someone wrote and approved for a franchise about giant robots beating the s*** out of each other.

Will It Be Any Good?: To be honest, this is by far the most intriguing set-up for a Transformers movie yet. Sure, it's dumb, but at least it sounds like Bay is doing something a little different. It really depends upon how well Nazis and magic fit in with the rest of the present-day narrative.
