15 Most Shocking Moments In Found Footage Movies
13. The Peachfuzz Rape Story - Creep
Mark Duplass' Creep is entirely centred around weirdo Josef, who has hired a documentarian to film the remainder of his life before he succumbs to a brain tumour, in order to pass a part of himself down to his wife and children.
When the two meet though it's immediately clear that Josef isn't being entirely truthful, contradicting statements he'd previously made and beginning to become a bit obsessive and all-around strange, often donning a wolf mask and going by the name "Peachfuzz", a persona his child apparently finds funny.
The appeal of Creep is figuring out just what Josef's endgame is, and which parts - if any - of the story he's telling to the camera are real, or just fantasies he's made up in his head.
By far the most shocking moment though - and the first time you properly start to become afraid of him - is when he confesses that the "Peachfuzz" persona is actually the disguise he used to drug and rape his wife in order to confirm suspicions that she was into animal porn. Nothing is shown from the act itself, but his dialogue-only recalling of the event manages to be more disturbing than anything explicit in the movie.
