15 Most Shocking Moments In Found Footage Movies

12. Deathly Premonitions - Lake Mungo

A film just as much about overcoming grief as it is a straight horror story, Lake Mungo chronicles the fallout following the drowning of a young girl, Alice, as her parents and family begin to feel an otherworldly presence haunting them.

Though the movie in general is less explicit than other entries on this list, a scene where Alice is talking to a doctor before her death, discussing a feeling she had that something horrible was going to happen to her, is far more unnerving because of how understated it is.

This archive footage of the interview is intercut with a recording taken from Alice's phone just before her death, where she's a approached by a figure that bares a striking resemblance to her rotting corpse.

The visuals themselves are pretty disturbing, but it's the haunting commentary that makes the scene so effective, and allows the grainy images to linger long after the credits have rolled.
