Given the generally downbeat tone of The Hateful Eight it wasn’t a huge surprise it ended with everyone dead, but with Tarantino’s command of gore he made sure each one was impactful. They could be funny and horrific in equal measure, with the shock death of Channing Tatum’s Jody being the most memorable.

Jody only appears in the third act and is mainly seen in a flashback that sets up the events of the story. He later shoots Sam Jackson’s Major Warren in a really bad place to get shot, but is forced to surrender when Warren threatens to kill his sister Daisy.

There’s a brief, almost touching moment when the sibling's finally reunion, right before Warren shoots him in the head, covering Daisy in his brains. It’s a well-executed jolt, made all the funnier by the fact Tarantino cast a handsome movie star just so he make his head explode.
