What would you do if you discovered a pair of sunglasses that gifted you with the ability to see the ruling class as they really looked? Well, chances are that if they looked like sinister decomposing zombie aliens, you'd be scarred for life.
The antagonists in They Live really are something to be marvelled at. Oh sure, one might think these skeletal figures look relatively dated by today's standards but let's not forget this was a cheap movie made in the late '80s, so what John Carpenter and co. accomplished here is really quite something. And given that they were essentially a subliminal message about the corruptness of human beings in a film designed to explore the dangers of subliminal messaging makes them even scarier.
