15 Most Underrated Western Films Of All Time

Quick, name a famous western director!

If you picked The Dead Don’t Die helmer/ all-round arthouse weirdo Jim Jarmusch, congratulations, you have very strange and singular taste.

For the rest of you, it may be a surprise to learn that the deadpan hero of American indie cinema ever made a western, but this trippy black and white effort from 1995 is actually one of the decade’s best additions to the genre precisely because of its odd, offbeat tone.

A strange and psychedelic trip, the film follows Johnny Depp in the title role (spoilers, sort of), with a cast including John Hurt, Crispin Glover, and weird movie stalwart Iggy Pop.
