4. Treasure Planet (2002)
Treasure Planet has gone down in history as being one of the least successful animated films of all time (and one of the biggest box office bombs ever), but don't let that deter you from enjoying the film. Rather, the fact that it cost so much money helps its visual appeal. They used every penny of its $140 million budget wisely. The movie is essentially an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's famous novel 'Treasure Island', only it's set in space. Because why not? This setting allows for the old fashioned sailing vessels to get an awesome Steampunk overhaul, and has them sailing in some of the most breathtaking imagery ever put into an animated movie.
... so please, buy this movie on DVD so they'll make a sequel. Yes, it's been eleven years, but
I still want a sequel!
