15 Most Weird And Twisted Movies This Decade (So Far)
14. The Skin I Live In
Renowned Spanish director Pedro Almodovar is no stranger to exploring the weird and often dark side of human nature, nor is he averse to focusing his films around those in society who are marginalised from the mainstream. With The Skin I Live in Almodovar has crafted perhaps his first horror film, although predictably it doesn't sit well alongside most other movies which fall into this category. Antonio Banderas, collaborating with Almodovar for the first time since Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! plays Dr. Robert Ledgard, a surgeon who carries out illegal surgery in his reclusive home in an attempt to create artificial skin resistant to burns. The film's gorgeous aesthetic sensibility - Almodovar is a keen visual stylist - betrays the dark undercurrents of The Skin I Live In. This is his most twisted and macabre work yet.
