The Original: A bizarre meshing of the teen and found footage genres, Project X was fine for a few laughs though ultimately succumbed to its grating characters and perceived misogyny. Despite negative reviews, it grossed $102 million against a $12 million budget. The Sequel: Four days after it was released, a sequel was announced, with the movie's writer Michael Bacall returning to script the follow-up. Word has been pretty quiet during the three years since, though Bacall insists it's happening. Will It Be Any Good?: One major factor working in the film's favour is that a new Project X movie could simply adopt the same gimmick and follow a different set of teenagers. Nobody was particularly attached to the original trio of kids, who will have aged out of their roles by the time the movie gets made anyway. Even so, the first one wasn't particularly great, and with the same creative voice returning, it doesn't seem all that likely this one will be either.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
