The Original: This surprisingly solid 2011 update of the 1972 Charles Bronson-starring thriller found Jason Statham in a slightly more thoughtful mode than usual, resulting in a rare remake which outdid its predecessor, even though reviews and box office were both mixed. The Sequel: Mechanic: Resurrection began filming last November for a January 2016 release date, and in addition to Statham returning, the cast is impressively rounded out by Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh. Will It Be Any Good?: It could easily go either way, though given how unexpected and entertaining the whole master-apprentice nature of the original movie's plot was, it seems unlikely that the film will be able to replicate this. Plus, without reliable action director Simon West (Con Air, The Expendables 2) at the helm this time and art-house director Dennis Gansel (The Wave) replacing him, something could easily get lost in the shuffle.
